Growing Right Along...

Image
As more and more of the property becomes easily accessible, our fun just keeps growing. Our upper flat section, soon to hold our large event space, was the perfect place for a campout/bonfire while it was still open. The views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful starlit sky make it an amazing space to spend time. Even on a cloudy day, this view takes my breath away. Three of the eventual five tents set up for families and teenagers to have a memorable evening- the first of many we hope to host! Since we are still wrapping up permits for septic, the roads are not travelled yet- but it's getting close. This meant we all traipsed up and down the rod on foot or using the trucks. Either way was fun.    Recent rains made the road extra fun- thankfully our excavator smoothed them back over soon after this event. Walking down to the house has been made much easier now that we can use the stairs Rick and Barry built us- using wood from trees on the pr...

The Road Goes On...

Summer brought a few more changes around the property, and now that we are done with traveling and settled back into school I can provide a few updates. When we last met, I left you with the bulldozer perched just past the house (see below). I am happy to announce that our (20 foot wide) roads now make a complete loop around the property. The road sliced into a hill we sledded down last winter- weird. A view looking up The road continues down on the right, the flat cleared section you see on the left will hold tiny cabins for rentals. (Lemme  tell you, they will have an amazing view). Walking the paths around the property keeps getting easier. As we...

A Long (and Overdue) Update

Greetings from Triple R Oasis! It's hard to believe we've been official residents of our little holler in Green Mountain, North Carolina for nearly 10 months! Even harder to believe it's taken me this long to update you on our progress. But, as we are discovering, things always seem to take a little (okay, sometimes a lot) longer than we planned. Hmmmm..... Where to start. I think I'll  start at the beginning- for those who might not know the story. We started out with an idea. We wanted to find a way to turn favorite things into our careers- our lifestyles, really. These things include  our love of connecting with others, finding adventure and peace in nature, pursuing art and craft in various forms, and living in a more sustainable manner. After a long search, we found and purchased the perfect (for us) 30 acres in the mountains of western North Carolina in January 2016.  Here, we decided, we would build our RETREAT. The "front" of the house (as pic...
